Bas-Relief images from the Dvaravati period

Wat Tham Phra Phothisat in Amphoe Kaeng Khoi is also called Tham Phra Ngam or Tham Khao Nam Phu and consists of six chambers of various sizes. The chamber by the entrance has the best illumination and contains wall murals.

 

The recently built pagoda at the northern wall of the cave contains a bas-relief from the Thawarawadi period (13th-14th Buddhist centuries) depicting 6 persons in different postures, like the many postures of the Bodhisattva.

 

Other nearby caves of interest include Tham Thammathat, Tham Lumphini, Tham Sangat Chedi and a stone garden.

Getting There:

The cave is located in the compound of Wat Tham Phra Phothisat, Tambon Thap Kwang, 32 kilometres from Saraburi town, 15 kilometres along Highway No. 2 (Mittraphap Road) to Nakhon Ratchasima and 11 kilometres along the access road following the road signs
