The Vineyards of Saraburi

Muak Lek District

Cabernet Franc,  Black Opal SL, Thompson, Frame, Root Perlet, Ruby Delight, and Black Queen, are names the may be unfamiliar to most visitors, but they are well-known to grape growers in Amphoe Muak Lek. Grape vines cover many the hills of the districtand aside from infusing the area with beautiful green and red-purple grape vines, they also provide some fantastic view points for the visitors who come here. The grape produce of this district is regarded as delicious, fresh and complete and totally appealing to grape connoisseurs.

Famed grape products include fresh grapes,  grape juice, dried grapes, grape pies, and of course wine that has garnered praise for Muak Lek grape farmers from Thais and foreigners alike. As the saying goes, “The way to know if a wine is good is to smell its aroma.” This can be done in pure enjoyment at Muak Lek Saraburi Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand Cowboy Night.

Good quality wine must have

  • Bright color. In the case of red wine, must have a deep red color and sparkle like velvet.
  • A pleasant aroma according to the grape used, with a distinctive scent of oak.
  • A smoothness to the palette and full bodied.
  • A sweet aroma when swallowed and somewhat astringent. This should stick from the roof of the mouth to the nose down to the throat.
