the charm and
heritage of
Pasak River

The Pasak River
is a tide of life for the Saraburi people who live along the riverside, are surrounded by nature and history and although much of the world has changed around them they still retain their ancestors’cultures and traditions
.

The Ayutthaya Period:
King Thong Tham made a river jouney by Pasak River to worship the respected 'Buddha’s Left Footprint' at Wat Phra Putthabat.

The Rattana-Khosin Period
1. KingRama I : a migration of Thai-Yuan from the north of Thailand, and particularly Chiang Saen City, settled in Sao Hai district, Saraburi Province.

2. KingRama IV: King Rama IV’s brother, Pra Pin Khao, came to stay at Sita Palace; Kaeng Khoi. And when His Majesty was immensely satisfied with the still, cool, and deep river when he took a bath at Tha Rab, Sao Hai District. He desired to have the water used in the Buddhist ceremony at Wat Phra Putthabat before using it in the royal coronation and other sacred royal ceremonies.

Every year, Sao Hai people organize the Traditional Long Boat Races in order to maintain their unity. Races take place in September's last weekend, which is considered the highest torrent period. Long Boat racing teams from other provinces will also be involved.
